Hi, thank you for a great post. I agree that link building is important and helps a website get higher positions in search engine results. I would also add press releases and social bookmarking services to the list of link building methods.
Yes Julia. Press releases and Social Bookmarking is another way to get lots of quality backlinks. We will be talking about that in the later blog posts. Keep it coming.
I think writing articles is not only good for one-way links but brings traffic to your site. I try to find ways to bring more traffic to my blog and think of links as an added benefit. Social bookmarking is excellent because you can leave a description of your site that will bring lots of traffic as well as giving a one-way link. I try to do both every day.

Press release is to provide news.
I would suggest you to send out a press release as long as you have any new update about your company, business or products.
There is no time frame for press release. Just blast it out as long as you have any update.
Yes it is true that link building is a powerful method to improve search ranking which result in more traffic to the website.
There ae some good link exchanges that I know of, here are the ones:

2) Linkalizer.com
Also to find more free quality links to a website with relevant content:
