  • The first thing you need to do is to make sure you pick the right forum to market your products or your affiliate links. You don’t want to talk about gardening when the forum readers are interested in video games only. All you need to do is to go on Google and key in the keyword + forum. For example, if you are looking for information on fishing, then just key in “Fishing Forum”.

  • Be sure to participate a lot in the forums. Don’t just post stuff there when you want to promote something. You must interact and talk to the people in the forum. Try and build relationships with others, especially those who regularly post stuff there. On the Internet, trust is everything and you want to make sure that people know and trust you.

  • Make sure you are knowledgeable about your niche market because people don’t like it when you are talking nothing but nonsense. It is one of the fastest ways to brand yourself as an expert.

  • Don’t try and increase your post count by filling in useless posts like, “Great post!” or “Nice one” or “cool!” People frown upon these methods and they might even consider you to be a spammer if you are not careful. Always give constructive posts instead of fillers.

When you become well known, you can even setup profitable joint ventures with people there so forum marketing not only drives traffic, it also opens up many doors for new opportunities.

    Good advice, I have been using forum marketting for a while. There is another point about using forums that many people overlook. One of the big benefits is that if you read a lot of relevant blogs so that you can post to them you will increase your knowledge of your subject. That improves the quality and breadth of your own blog posts. It is a win win situation. You get organic traffic and you improve what you offer your readers.
