Writing Good Headline

207-143-writing-good-headlineHeadlines are the doorway to your content – if your headline has no impact, the rest of your content is useless because people often judge a book by its cover the same way someone judges a blog post or a product by its killer headline.

If you want to get tremendous results for your emails or for your sales letters and ads, there is one very good place you must go to in order to find out how to write fantastic headlines…

You have to ‘Digg’ for it at www.digg.com!

As far as I’m concerned, Digg is THE best place to find powerful headlines for niche markets. You can find all sorts of headlines that are popular, specific and benefit-oriented and you can even find it on funny news.

There are 2 ways to do this.

First - Here’s what you need to do… Go to www.digg.com and look at the popular posts.

I found one that I like:

And what I would do is to re-write and change some of the words.

Here’s what I can change it into:

45+ Stunning Tips And Methods For Network Marketers/ Internet Marketers

Another one I pick up is this…

digg2

And this is what I can change it into…

43 Ways To Earn More For Less Money

Why this method works, because since the headline is popular and it captured people’s attention, why not use it in your salesletter or email subject line.

This will solve your problem of thinking what headline to use and whether it work or not.

The second way to do it is to type in your niche keyword and click Search. Remember, your niche is your market so if you are in the network marketing niche, you must type in ‘MLM’, ‘network marketing’ or ‘home based businesses’.

Next step… refine the search to search by the title only (so your keyword is in the title), then it will show all stories (not just front page stories), and finally sort it out by which posts have the most ‘Diggs’. Each ‘Digg’ is like a vote for the most popular topic so you can find out what kind of headlines attract the most people to take action and ‘Digg’ it.

By using this special Digg technique, I saw someone come up with an interesting headline like “Man Win’s Divorce Without Lawyer In Sight”. Does it make you wanna click it and read it?

Or how about this interesting headline:

“How I Perfected My Hairdressing Skill After Being Taught By A Bald Barber”

Would you trust a bald barber with your hair? I’m sure this headline caught your attention too.

The most important thing about using this technique is to remember what context you are presenting your story in. Don’t hammer irrelevant things just because it sounds nice.

Now that you are done with your headlines, you need content to go with it. I suggest you click here in order to find out how to can match good content with your fantastic niche headlines.

You’re right about headlines. They’re a huge factor in getting people to read anything. Good of you to issue the reminder. However, in a nifty bit of irony, the headline for this post doesn’t measure up to your standards. Plus, it’s missing the indefinite article “a”. Anyway, the point you’re making is strong. Nice post.
