132-Success RecruitingDo you know what success recruiting principles are all about?

Let me share a little story with you how I managed to recruit more than 1,000 prospects in a short period of time (just a few months, in fact).

It’s no secret that when I first started out in network marketing, I was doing things the old school way – pestering my friends and relatives, handing out flyers, cold calling dead beat leads and bring people to hotel meetings. I had been doing this for many years and I only have a small band of downlines who disappeared into oblivion after one or two years because they were going through the same recruiting problems as well.

At the end of the day, I realized that there is no way you can apply sales and marketing methods used in the 70s in a 21st century environment. It just doesn’t work – after all, we don’t ride on horses or use VCRs and cassettes anymore (unless you like to go vintage…)

In the 21st century, the Google/Web 2.0 generation uses the Internet to spearhead their operations. Gone are the days of approaching people face to face. You no longer need to look for strangers and get them to take a ‘look’ at your business opportunity.

Successful recruiting principles require you to position yourself as an expert in network marketing rather than a sleazy door-to-door sales person.

Be an expert consultant, not a peddler.

Here are a couple of tips how you can achieve success in recruiting without spending too much money on acquiring leads:

(1) Use low cost, high profit business models like blogging, writing articles, joining social networking communities and using banner advertising.

(2) Learn to focus on building relationships rather than going in for the ‘kill’. Most people don’t realize that pitching their business opportunity on the front end is most likely going to ‘kill’ your prospect. You are looking for a business partner, not a one night stand after all!

(3) Gather lots of leads on the Internet and pick and choose your people. Do not fret if uncle Bob, beer drinking buddy Joe or your favorite grandmother refuses to join your network marketing business. Not everyone is your target market. Only deal with serious people and don’t waste time with people who don’t want this opportunity for themselves.

(4) Have the mindset of an entrepreneur and never give up when things go wrong. You must have the determination and persistence if you want to succeed in network marketing.
