Effective Cold Calling

127-Effective Cold CallingCold calling is one of the hardest things that network marketing is obliged to do. When I first started out without any downlines in my team, I actually started out cold calling strangers or common acquaintances because I had this mental barrier that I do not like to approach my friends and family members. I guess I was afraid what my friends and family would think of me so I honed my cold calling skills and that is why I am able to share with you some tips on effective cold calling.

You see, when you want to call someone, you have to be very clear what your intention is. Most of the time, they are not very clear in their mind why they are making that phone call in the first place. This results in a lot of ‘aahhs’ and ‘eerms’ when it comes to cold calling and it will make your cold calling less effectiveAlthough fear is something that is present for new people, one of the best ways to overcome it is to pump yourself full of adrenaline to mask the fear. Enthusiasm sells and there are many people who have joined network marketing opportunities based on sheer enthusiasm alone.

Also, never talk too much about your network marketing opportunity when you are on the phone with a prospect. Effective cold calling is all about the ‘pre-sell’ and your purpose of calling your prospect is to make an appointment so that you can do a full, uninterrupted presentation. Even with a close friend, you will be wasting too much of your time explaining the details of your opportunity over the phone because you can never gauge their facial expressions nor predict what interruptions might come up (such as their kids disturbing them).

People normally get petrified when they fail to make contact with a prospect or they fail to make contact or if the prospect ‘suspects’ that it is a sales call. A good way to cold call effectively is to ignore them. Don’t worry so much if they say no. It’s all a numbers game. When you talk to some people on the phone, some will say yes, some will say no. The more you hear the word no, the more likely you are going to get a yes somewhere down the line. When you get a no and you worry too much about your feelings, you will kill your chances of success because you stop making the next call. For all you know, the next phone call would be a yes so keep going.
